Claims case study

As part of our renewal review process, we offered a client a Free Jewellery Valuation Service from one of our partners. We wanted to ensure his pieces were insured for the correct replacement value. It transpired that all items were underinsured so cover was increased to provide adequate protection.

A year later whilst away on holiday, our client had the unfortunate experience of having a watch stolen from his hotel room. Before the valuation the watch was specified on the policy at £40,000 on an Agreed Value Basis. This had subsequently been increased to £45,350. However, the watch was a limited edition and the cost to replace it at the time of the loss had increased to £59,995. As the item had been valued within the last two years, Chubb paid the full amount to replace the watch.

Our client was very pleased with the service and advice he had received. “The valuation provided by your partner was well worth it. I would not have been able to get a like for like replacement on the missing watch if it wasn’t for this and the advice you gave. In the end this is a fantastic outcome to conclude an awful experience.”
